Knighthammer 40k turns 2 years old!

Wow, how did that happen? Today, June 26th, is exactly two years after I first created this blog.

Two years ago was sure a long time! Remember that? Two years ago, we were waiting in anticipation for the drop of the 6th edition rules, and everyone thought the game would break. I personally loved 6th edition, and enjoyed it far more than 4th or 5th. I remember how badly Tyranids got "nerfed". Ha! Funny how that happened, before people realized what Biomancy did for us... good times, good times.

The Past:

As a gamer, I've come a very long way since then! I've matured a lot as a competitive gamer, and I'd say have become a much more balanced player. And the game itself has changed a huge amount in the last two years, and I've enjoyed every moment of it. I have played 73 games of Warhammer 40,000 since I started this blog... wow. 71 of those were with Tyranids, and I've honestly done fairly well. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and I am still trying to place top 3 in a Grand Tournament, then hopefully win one. Between Two editions and two codexes, in the last 71 games with Tyranids I am 55-14-2... not too shabby! Of course, I have also focused a lot more on playing competitive games recently. This has led to more losses, and more learning! Your record in friendly play on a Thursday night doesn't really matter. In the end, it's better to struggle on Thursday night so you're better prepared for Saturday and Sunday. This also took me a while to learn, but I can hope that I will improve. It's hard to believe that when I started this blog, I was so young. Fortunately, I see many good years of 40k coming up!

The Future:

To be honest, I have no idea where Warhammer 40,000 fits into my future. I have no doubt that it will be there, and I will probably leave the game for a month or two, then come roaring back when the opportunity presents itself. For now, I am focused on the ATC. This is my first visit to the ATC, my first tournament outside of Florida, and my first time as Team Captain. We'll see how that goes, but I have high hopes for myself and my team. After that, the future gets quite murky. In August, I will be moving to Texas! As many young people do, I will be going to College, and I will be at Texas A&M University in College Station. On the one hand, it's a small town, but I am hoping the 40k community will be a thriving one. I have already visited once and found the closest store, so I'm sure I'll spend some time there! There are also a huge amount of GTs in Texas, which makes me very very excited! However, I think that my first semester I will take very very slowly. I will be a member of the Corps of Cadets, the largest ROTC program outside of the Military Academies, and will be an Engineering Major. Suffice to say, my schedule looks busy as a Freshman! I have yet to decide whether I will bring my army with me to my first semester, or wait until 2015 to pick the game back up. Decisions, decisions... Either way, the future is bright! 40k is an amazing game that we all love!

A huge thanks to my few readers, and the 40k community in general. I think that the Community is the biggest reason I play Warhammer, and why I will always be a gamer no matter what the future holds.

  1. Oh...you're going to be busy. But you will always have time for 40K if you choose. You just need to cut down on the women and booze. ;)

    Go Aggies!

  2. BTW, who are your teammates for the ATC?

    1. All local guys. The Tau/Blood Angel player from my past BatReps, but no internet personalities. I got added into a team late because their captain quit, so I didn't have a choice in team mates. However, meeting them all I think I have a good team. We're not exactly aiming to win the whole thing, more for a good time.

  3. Yeah, just go have a good time. Too bad I can't make it this year, but we will see in the future.
